First Christian Church of Pomona is an open community of seekers, in covenant with God, Christ, and with one another
Who We Are Our Core Belief Jesus said; "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
The greatest joy and fulfillment in life lies in continually giving one's self to God and in participating in God's transforming mission. We invite all to full participation in a common life where there is no discrimination by economic class, gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or physical ability. This congregation seeks to provide opportunities for enrichment and service, striving for justice and peace and bringing hope to all according to their needs.
Our Community We value our connections: we celebrate, pray, learn, play, eat, sing, work, serve, and meet together. We look to each other for companionship and support in our life's journey with Christ. We celebrate the diversity of our community and are committed to being citizens of the world. We are called upon by God to pray for and respond to people in their need and to address underlying social problems of our community and world. We are committed to discerning the will of God in our lives and in expanding the boundaries of Christ's love in the world. Miracle Day at Delhaven Christian Church
Our Mission To be, "A Place Where Edges Meet." God seeks to be in relationship with the world. As a congregation, our mission is to stand in the transforming intersections of life, creating holy space for that relationship to develop, transform, and sustain our lives. We welcome all into this community and invite you to create "A Place Where Edges Meet" in your life. Celebration, Music & Art Worshiping together is core to our community. First Christian Church is committed to fine preaching and excellent music. The celebration of the Lord’s Supper is central to our worship experience and is celebrated every week. Our large, well-lit sanctuary is designed to be a flexible space for the act of worship. Art, music, dance, drama, and multimedia can all be incorporated into the worship experience. There are choirs for both adults and children that are open to all. There are also opportunities during the week to gather for worship, spiritual development and prayer.
Children, Youth & Families The congregation is committed to providing the crucial community support necessary for raising children in this rapidly changing and sometimes chaotic world. At First Christian Church, children are encouraged to participate in the worship life of the community. There is nursery care for infants through 3 years old. Children from 4 years through the 3rd grade are encouraged to participate in worship through the Children’s sermon and then take part in a strong Christian education program the rest of the worship service.
Spirituality & Education First Christian Church has a variety of educational offerings for children and adults on Sunday morning and at other times during the week. We draw upon the rich resources from within the congregation, our professional staff, the nearby School of Theology, and from the community. First Christian Church highly values the ongoing spiritual development of its members through the offering of classes and retreats that seek to create and sustain a deep personal and corporate spirituality. Outreach & Fellowship We are called by Christ to minister to one another and to the world. Through direct involvement and financial contributions, we support a variety of local and international ministries and service projects. Service to others enriches our community and our lives. First Christian Church has many different fellowship groups. Some are organized around various interests and ages, while others are inter-generational. Being involved in one or more small group ministries is highly valued, whether it is a short or long term connection.
